Jay is a volunteer from New Jersey who has been close to the front lines since nearly the beginning. In October, 2022, he setup an overflow refugee camp in Przemysl, Poland and is helping to care for those who seek refuge. He’s happy about my arrival and looking forward to the “Slap Yo Mama“ seasoning I’m bringing at his request. He was missing Cajun I guess. I threw in some Old Bay for good measure.
I told him I was going to make a plea to my network to try and raise some money to fill some immediate needs and asked what those were? I thought he would ask for me to bring sleeping bags, socks or blankets. Instead, he told me his shelter needed beds and mattresses. Sobering.
So, here I am — hoping that maybe I’ll be able to buy some beds for those passing through on their way to ??
I don’t know what is next for them anymore than they do.

In a few short weeks I will have the pleasure of meeting this selfless human. I’ll use a little of his hot sauce on my pierogies.
